Our network in Kiev exists since the summer of 2005 and is connected to the Internet optical channel that allows providing fast and reliable access. Network is built on ethernet technology.

Comparison with other networking technologies

Ideal access speed via an ordinary modem (dial-up) is 5.6 Kbytes/sec. The outgoing data rate is limited to 3.6 Kbytes/sec. This is enough to work with small amounts of mail and news. The main inconveniences are connection instability, slow loading of pages with photos and other pictures, and busy telephone line.
Access speed via DSL-modem under ideal conditions is 700 Kbytes per second. At the same time, the speed of outgoing data is limited to 100 Kbytes per second. In practice, connecting at speeds above 52 Kbyte/s (512k) is usually expensive. In addition, in wet weather (rain, thaw), the quality of communication often deteriorates because of wet cable.
Internet access via cable TV networks occurs at better speeds - up to 3.5 Mbyte/s. On reception. And for upload - only up to 200 Kbytes per second. And the bandwidth is shared between all working users at home.
This is quite convenient, but games are not always good because of the long response time (ping), for comfortable use of filesharing networks is not always enough speed of outgoing traffic. In addition, due to bandwidth limitations it is difficult to find Unlim-package with a good price / speed ratio.
