CJSC Volgograd-GSM

On July 20, 1997 OJSC Volgogradelektrosvyaz and CJSC Srednevolzhsk Interregional Association of Radio Telecommunication Systems (Smarts) signed an agreement on creation of a GSM standard cellular radio telephony network in the city of Volgograd and the Volgograd region. The network was put into commercial operation in 1998. Also in November 1998 the first eight base stations were launched.
In 2004 the company obtained the license for provision of telematic services. In December 2004 CJSC Volgograd-GSM launched commercial operation of the broadband and dial-up Internet access services.
In 2005 the service of organizing VPN-channels for corporate subscribers was launched. Technical development of the company in 2006-2007 was made in the following directions: expansion of the network coverage, increase of the bandwidth capacity, expansion of the range of rendered services on the basis of available technologies and licenses, improvement of communication quality and subscriber servicing, decrease of operational costs.
In 2007 a unique switching center based on the NGN technology was put into operation. Volgograd GSM started providing fixed telephony services.
CJSC Volgograd-GSM unites Volgograd and Volgograd region inhabitants through qualitative and reliable cellular communications. The company is distinguished by its availability in most remote areas of the region. Every year the territory of the service area is expanding.
The basic principle that guides CJSC "Volgograd-GSM" in the development of new tariffs and services - a differentiated approach to the needs of the city and region, allowing minimizing costs for cellular, fixed communications and Internet.
The company has won the contest "Leader of the XXI Century" in the category "Efficient Development of Production" several times.
From 1998 to 2011 the company provided services under the brand name Smarts.
On September 1, 2011 CJSC "Volgograd-GSM" officially became part of the largest Russian national telecommunications company "Rostelecom", which allowed to more actively develop cell phone services in the Volgograd region. Thanks to the synergy of the association, there are very good prospects for providing the company's subscribers with mobile and fixed communication services, Internet throughout the country in a "single window" mode with a significant reduction of tariffs for national roaming, city, long-distance and international communication.
